Ingredients:
- 2 cups (480 ml) water
- 4 tablespoons (60 ml) whiskey (preferably Bourbon or Scotch)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey, preferably local or raw
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 slices of fresh lemon
- 2 whole cloves
- A pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
- In a kettle or pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- In each heatproof mug, combine 2 tablespoons of whiskey, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
- Add 1-2 whole cloves to each mug for a warm spice note.
- Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into the mugs, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Stir well to dissolve the honey, then add a slice of lemon to each mug.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness or lemon as desired, and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top if using.
- Enjoy immediately, sipping slowly to savour the warmth.
