Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (480 ml) water
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) whiskey (preferably Bourbon or Scotch)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey, preferably local or raw
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 slices of fresh lemon
  • 2 whole cloves
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a kettle or pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. In each heatproof mug, combine 2 tablespoons of whiskey, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
  3. Add 1-2 whole cloves to each mug for a warm spice note.
  4. Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it into the mugs, filling them about three-quarters full.
  5. Stir well to dissolve the honey, then add a slice of lemon to each mug.
  6. Taste and adjust the sweetness or lemon as desired, and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top if using.
  7. Enjoy immediately, sipping slowly to savour the warmth.
